Namaste
In 1968 Richard Palumbo was born in Arles en Provence in the Southeast of France. After spending many years working in the hotel and catering business in notable cities spanning the globe such as Paris, Cannes, Les 2 Alpes, Bournemouth, London, Orlando, Aspen, San Francisco and New York he's found his passion and his place. He currently shares his time between Les Saintes Maries de la mer in Camargue, South of France and Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand. It is in Thailand where he's discovered his love for photography in an environment where his artistic talent can thrive in sync with his personal values. He prefers to shoot one-on-one portraits with a traditional film Konica and a digital Canon 350D cameras so that his subjects' soul is projected into the picture. In the near future he plans to travel the world more extensively and bring forth more images from our beautiful Mother Earth.

Endurance riding race - The 130 km (80.78 miles) of Camargue - 90 km, April 06th, 2008 - Les Saintes Maries de la mer - Camargue - France - Departure at the Mas de la Cure, riding through the marshlands and on the East Beach at The Saints Marie of the sea. Endurance Riding is an equestrian sport based on controlled long distance races. There are two main types of long distance riding, competitive trail riding and endurance rides. The 130 km of Camargue is an endurance ride where the winning horse (& rider) is the first one to cross the finish line while stopping periodically to pass a veterinary check that deems the animal in good health and “fit to continue”. Most endurance rides are either 20 to 200 km (12.43 to 124.27 miles) long, though shorter rides are organized for beginners and a few longer rides exist (multi-day). Endurance Riding first appeared in the XIXth century. It is the fruit of the long history between the man and the horse which remained for a long time the only means of transportation on long distances. It is a marginal and little known discipline, but very spectacular and remarkable due to the attention given to the horse’s health. It requires the rider to have a perfect knowledge of his mount and also a good physical health. Numerous races take place in France, The 160 km of Florac (48) or Saint Galmier (42) and the 130 km of the Saints Marie of the sea (13). Salisbury Cathedral West Front - Great West Front of Salisbury Cathedral - Salisbury Cathedral and bell tower from the cloister - Salisbury Cathedral is an Anglican cathedral located in Salisbury, England. The main body was completed in only 38 years and is considered one of the leading examples of Early English architecture. The cathedral has the tallest church spire in the United Kingdom (123m/404ft). It also has the largest cloister and the largest cathedral close in Britain (80 acres). The Cathedral contains the world's oldest working clock (from AD 1386) and has one of the four surviving original copies of the Magna Carta (all four original copies are in Britain). Although commonly known as Salisbury Cathedral, the official name is the Cathedral of Saint Mary. In 2008, the Cathedral is celebrating the 750th anniversary of its consecration in 1258. It is the Mother Church of the Salisbury diocese.

Monks passing Monks - Luang Phrabang - Laos - Luang Prabang, or Louangphrabang, is a city located in north central Laos, on the Mekong River about 425 km north of Vientiane, and the capital of Louangphrabang Province. The current population of the city is about 22,000. The city was formerly the capital of a kingdom of the same name. Until the communist takeover in 1975, it was the royal capital and seat of government of the Kingdom of Laos. The city is also notable as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luang_Prabang) - The earliest inhabitants of Laos were migrants from southern China. From the 11th century onward, parts of Laos fell under the Khmer Empire, and later under Siamese influence from the Sukhothai dynasty. With the fall of Sukhothai in 1345, the first kingdom of Laos emerged under Fa Ngum, a Lao prince brought up in the court of Angkor Wat. As the Khmer Empire crumbled, Fa Ngum welded together a new empire, which he modestly christened ‘Lan Xang’ – the Land of a Million Elephants. Lan Xang covered the whole of present-day Laos plus most of Issan (northeast Thailand). Fa Ngum declared himself king of the realm in 1353. Fa Ngum was unable to subdue the unruly highlanders of the northeast regions; these remained independent of Lan Xang Rule. Upon Fa Ngum’s marriage to a Cambodian princess, the Khmer court gave the Lao king a sacred gold Buddha called Pra Bang. Fa Ngum made Buddhism the state religion, and Pra Bang became the protector of the Lao kingdom. Nobility pledged allegiance to the king before the statue. Named after Pra Bang was the city of Luang Prabang, the cradle of Lao culture and the centre of the Lao state for the next 200 years. (Source: http://www.visit-laos.com/sabbaidee/history.htm)

Boats along Mekong river's bank - Luang Phrabang - Laos - The Mekong is one of the world’s major rivers. It is the 11th-longest river in the world, and the 12th-largest by volume (discharging 475 km³/114 cu mi of water annually). Its estimated length is 4,880 km (3,032 mi), and it drains an area of 810,000 km² (313,000 sq mi). From the Tibetan Plateau it runs through China's Yunnan province, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. All except China and Burma belong to the Mekong River Commission. A south Asian regional association, Mekong-Ganga Cooperation is named after this river. The extreme seasonal variations in flow and the presence of rapids and waterfalls have made navigation extremely difficult. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mekong)
