Namaste
In 1968 Richard Palumbo was born in Arles en Provence in the Southeast of France. After spending many years working in the hotel and catering business in notable cities spanning the globe such as Paris, Cannes, Les 2 Alpes, Bournemouth, London, Orlando, Aspen, San Francisco and New York he's found his passion and his place. He currently shares his time between Les Saintes Maries de la mer in Camargue, South of France and Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand. It is in Thailand where he's discovered his love for photography in an environment where his artistic talent can thrive in sync with his personal values. He prefers to shoot one-on-one portraits with a traditional film Konica and a digital Canon 350D cameras so that his subjects' soul is projected into the picture. In the near future he plans to travel the world more extensively and bring forth more images from our beautiful Mother Earth.
Om Shanti

Laos - -Luang Phrabang - Young Monk in a Temple - Luang Prabang, or Louangphrabang, is a city located in north central Laos, on the Mekong River about 425 km north of Vientiane, and the capital of Louangphrabang Province. The current population of the city is about 22,000. The city was formerly the capital of a kingdom of the same name. Until the communist takeover in 1975, it was the royal capital and seat of government of the Kingdom of Laos. The city is also notable as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luang_Prabang) - The earliest inhabitants of Laos were migrants from southern China. From the 11th century onward, parts of Laos fell under the Khmer Empire, and later under Siamese influence from the Sukhothai dynasty. With the fall of Sukhothai in 1345, the first kingdom of Laos emerged under Fa Ngum, a Lao prince brought up in the court of Angkor Wat. As the Khmer Empire crumbled, Fa Ngum welded together a new empire, which he modestly christened ‘Lan Xang’ – the Land of a Million Elephants. Lan Xang covered the whole of present-day Laos plus most of Issan (northeast Thailand). Fa Ngum declared himself king of the realm in 1353. Fa Ngum was unable to subdue the unruly highlanders of the northeast regions; these remained independent of Lan Xang Rule. Upon Fa Ngum’s marriage to a Cambodian princess, the Khmer court gave the Lao king a sacred gold Buddha called Pra Bang. Fa Ngum made Buddhism the state religion, and Pra Bang became the protector of the Lao kingdom. Nobility pledged allegiance to the king before the statue. Named after Pra Bang was the city of Luang Prabang, the cradle of Lao culture and the centre of the Lao state for the next 200 years. (Source: http://www.visit-laos.com/sabbaidee/history.htm)

England - London - Red Phone Box & Big Ben - Although arguably an endangered species these days, the red telephone box created by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott has long been considered a design icon: one of those items that instantly marked the nation’s identity to overseas visitors. Nothing that has been designed since to fulfil the same purpose has been anywhere near so fondly regarded. And since so many of us have mobile phones now anyway, we could be forgiven for hardly noticing. Public telephony did not always take place in an illuminated, sheltered kiosk on the street. In the late 19th century, public phones were situated in hotel foyers and shops, very often with an attendant on hand in the posher establishments to contact the telephone exchange on your behalf and collect the fee. The provision of street kiosks began in the early 1900s, with each municipal authority producing its own design. Italy - Florence - Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore - The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore is the cathedral church (Duomo) of Florence, Italy. The basilica is notable for its dome designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, its exterior facing of polychrome marble panels in various shades of green and pink bordered by white. The basilica was built on the site of a previous cathedral, Santa Reparata (locals of Florence continued to call the Cathedral by this former name for some time after reconstruction), and was inspired by the new cathedrals in Pisa and Siena. By the end of the 13th century, the nine-centuries-old church of Santa Reparata was crumbling with age, as attested in documents of that time such as the Nuova Cronica of Giovanni Villani (1276–1348). Furthermore, it had become too small in a period of rapid population expansion. Prosperous Florence also wanted to surpass in grandeur its Tuscan rivals, Pisa and Siena, with a yet more magnificent church, grander in size and more richly adorned. This cathedral was, as a result, the largest in Europe when completed, with room for 30,000 people. It is now only exceeded in size by Saint Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City, Saint Paul's Cathedral in London, the Seville Cathedral, and the Milan Cathedral.
